They generally target the budget and mid-range segments. Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G Review

In this review, I am going to cover every parameter of this phone, so don’t skip anything. Now let’s start with the build of this phone.

Build

Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G Build Review

Nowadays if we see the budget and mid-range smartphones we will notice a rising trend of leather backs. There are so many phones in the market they are coming with a leather back. With the Infinix Note 40 Pro, the story is the same, Infinix has followed the trend and given the Leather textured back panel along with the plastic frames. On the rear panel, the top right corner there is a huge rectangular camera module containing four rings of 3 Camera sensors and one LED flash. The module is made up of metal and has a dual tone of silver and golden colour.

Note 40 Pro has curved edges from front and back which makes it more comfortable to hand. In dimension, it is 164.28mm long, 74.5mm wide, 8.1mm thick and 190 grams lightweight. The phone is available in two colors, Vintage Green & Titan Gold. The Vintage Green Color option will come with a leather texture back panel while the Titan Gold will come with the smooth plastic back panel. Overall the phone looks very sturdy and bold in terms of look and feel.

Active Halo

Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G Active Halo Review

Infinix has done many cool things with this phone and one of them is the Active Halo light on the back side placed in the camera module. This is an RGB notification light which has many functionalities. Normally this light stays invisible but as it is powered by the AI it lights up on getting notifications, putting on charging, listening to music, incoming calls, playing games, and using voice assistant. This Active Halo light is customizable and you can set whichever color you want. So this element is very unique as well as useful which I liked so much.

Display

Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G Display Review

In the display department, the Infinix Note 40 Pro brings a 6.78-inch Full HD+ 3D Curved AMOLED panel. The display supports a fast 120Hz refresh rate, 1300nits peak brightness, 2160Hz PWM Dimming, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The display design is all good as it has very slim bezels from top and bottom plus it has a very small size of center punch hole containing a selfie sensor.

Talking about the display quality, it is very good. It produces good colors along with deep blacks. It is very very bright, we have tested it in indoors as well as in harsh sunlight, everything is visible without any issue. Moreover, this display is an LTPS panel which means it adjusts the refresh rate between 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz according to the task happening to save the battery.

For content consumption, the display is up to date because it comes with the Widevine L1 certification to stream OTT content in Full HD and it also has HDR support on YouTube for HDR videos. One thing is missing which is HDR support for Netflix, it will be better if that is available but it’s okay. Overall the display is impressive and premium-looking, no issues with it.

Performance

Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G Performance Review

Now this is the area where you may get disappointed. The phone brings a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 7020 processor which is not as good as the Dimensity 7200 or Dimensity 7050 chipsets available in the competitor phones. The chipset is coupled with singular 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 Storage, which is good as you have more RAM and Storage so the read/write speed becomes faster, and app opening/closing becomes smoother.

Taking a look at the AnTuTu test, this phone has performed average bringing approx. 4,65,000 scores. Generally, This type of score comes in the good 15-16K smartphones, so this is not a good thing for this phone. In the Geekbench testing, the phone scored 905 points in Single-Core and 2146 points in Multi-Core Test, while in CPU throttle test the phone’s chip has throttled up to 80% of its maximum performance which is okay but it could have been better. There are other phones for example iQOO Z9 which has 7,25,000 AnTuTu Scores and it did not throttle at all in the CPU throttle test which is excellent.

Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G AnTuTu Score

Coming to the gaming performance of the phone then we have played COD Mobile, BGMI, and PUBG New State. In the BGMI, you can play maximum at (Smooth, Ultra) and (HD, High) settings with 40fps. The COD Mobile is also available to play only at 40fps but the PUBG New State is playable at 90fps. While gameplay I haven’t felt any lag or shutter but I would say at this price there should be support for the 60fps in BGMI and COD Mobile games as the other phones are giving.

In day-to-day tasks or heavy multitasking, this phone doesn’t create any issues, it handles everything very easily and smoothly. So if you don’t do heavy gaming then this phone is a good option to buy, you will not face any problems but if you want high performance for heavy gaming then look at the other options like iQOO Z9 5G.

Battery & Charging

Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G Battery and Charging Review

This is the area where Infinix shines. They have done a great job as they have brought Apple like magnetic charging support to any Android phone at this much of very low cost. There is no Android phone available which brings Magnetic charging support while this phone brings. The Infinix Note 40 Pro packs a 5000mAh Battery supported by 45W Fast Wired charging as well as the segment’s first 20W Magnetic Wireless and 10W Reverse Wireless Charging Support. With normal usage, this phone runs for more than one day, but when you do heavy gaming, this phone runs for 7-8 hours. In gaming to get more performance there is also a By-Pass Charging support to get more performance.

Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G Wireless Charging Review

The phone also comes with a dedicated power management chipset that is Cheetah X1 chip. This chip is used to manage 45W Wired, 20W Wireless, and 10W Reverse Wireless charging functionalities. In that chipset, there it 63 different parameters which ensures the battery health becomes safe. So that is good.

Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G Charging Modes

Now talking about the Charging speed, the phone comes with three different modes: Low-Temp, Smart, and Hyper. The Low-Temp mode will keep the phone’s temperature low by charging slowly, the Smart mode adjusts the timing of overnight charging according to when you again turn on the phone, and the hyper mode charges the phone as fast as it possible. We have tried in the Hyper mode and the phone has taken 1 hour and 30 minutes to fully charge the phone. Overall, the battery department is outstanding.

Camera

Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G Camera Review

The Note 40 Pro has a triple-camera setup of a 108MP primary sensor accompanied by 2MP macro and depth sensors on the back with Quad LED Flash and there is a 32MP selfie sensor on the front with the front Dual LED flash. I think Infinix should give an ultrawide sensor in comparison to the useless 2MP depth and macro sensors.

Apart from that the 108MP main camera clicks very good photos. In normal lighting conditions, it clicks very detailed photos. It retains the colors of the objects very accurately even in different human skin tones, it also does accurate edge detection in portraits. One thing that surprises that not only in Normal daylight but also in Low light or night light conditions it clicks a very good picture. It captures a good amount of light at night and also reduces noise. So that is good. Apart from that, the 32MP selfie sensor also works very well capturing good skin tone according to its price range.

Talking about the videography, this phone can shoot up to 2K resolution videos at 30fps from the front and back camera. It shoots decent quality videos but it is not the best part of this phone.

About the camera app, it is full of features. There are all the features like film mode, portrait mode, super night mode, slow motion mode, time-lapse mode, dual video mode, short video mode, sky shop, pro mode, panorama mode, super macro mode, AR shot mode, etc. Overall the photos come out very well with the front and back’s main sensor but other things are decent. So If you want a dedicated phone for the camera only then go for another one. This can satisfy the normal needs of the camera.

Multimedia

Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G Multimedia Review

In the area of multimedia, the Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G phone provides a great experience as there a dual stereo speakers which are stunned by JBL. The speaker quality is ok, considering the price. And talking about the video quality then the Full HD+ 3D curved display provides very immersive visuals. It comes with Widevine L1 support and HDR support on YouTube. Overall if you want a phone for multimedia you can go for the Note 40 Pro.

OS & UI

Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G OS Review

In this department, Infinix has made good improvements. In the past, Infinix phones were not preferable due to one of the reasons that it’s unclean and full of bloatware UI but this time Infinix has solved that issue. The Note 40 Pro comes pre-installed with the latest Android 14 based XOS 14 user interface. The company has promised 2 years of major Android OS updates and 3 years of security updates, so that is nice.

The UI is very clean. There is no bloatware or ads in the phone the phone. Moreover, there are so many AI features. They have given their AI assistant named Folax which is powered by the ChatGPT. So you can do tasks like a language translation. According to me, in the OS & UI area, this phone is complete.

Network & Connectivity

Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G Network and Connectivity Review

In terms of connectivity, this phone is all set. It supports Dual 5G, Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. The phone also comes with VoNR (Voice over NR) which means you can do voice calls over 5G. Apart from that it has a Dual nano SIM card slot, which means you can insert only 2 nano SIM Cards and no SD card, which is okay as the phone is already coming with 256GB storage. Overall no problems in the Network and Connectivity area.

Sensor

Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G Sensors Review

The Note 40 Pro comes with all the sensors, including an In-display fingerprint scanner, Face unlock, IR Blaster, Accelerometer sensor, Gyroscopic sensor, Proximity sensor, Gravity sensor, Magnetometer Sensor, and Light sensor. All the sensors work well.

Service

The service is a very important but very neglecting parameter that consumers always skip to check while buying a phone. After buying a phone if it gets damaged, the company service will help you. If the after-sell service is not perfect, you will face so many issues while repairing your phone.

About the Infinix service, you will not have to worry because the company has more than 1000 Authorized Service centres in India. You will easily get a service centre in your city.
