HMD Global is developing a second Nokia Lumia-inspired phone, the Skyline G2, featuring advanced camera options and a unique design. Learn more…
HMD Global, the company that now makes Nokia-branded phones, is planning to bring back some of the beloved features of the old Nokia Lumia phones with its new Skyline series. Earlier this month, there were leaks about a new phone named the Skyline. The designs shown in those leaks reminded many people of the classic Nokia Lumia phones. Now, it looks like HMD has even more plans for the Skyline series than we first thought.
New Leak Reveals HMD Skyline G2
A well-known leaker on social media, @smashx_60, who has a history of sharing accurate information about HMD’s projects, has revealed that HMD is working on a second phone in the Skyline series, called the HMD Skyline G2.
At this point, it’s not clear if the Skyline G2 will be a direct follow-up to the first Skyline phone or if it will be a completely separate device. Since HMD hasn’t officially announced the first Skyline phone yet, the release of the G2 might still be a long way off.
Advanced Camera Features of Skyline G2
Like the first Skyline phone, the G2 is expected to have a triple-camera setup on the back. While the exact details of the cameras are still unknown, the leaker mentioned four possible configurations for the camera system. One of these configurations includes a powerful 200MP main camera. All of the possible setups include telephoto, ultrawide, and Time of Flight (ToF) sensors. This suggests that HMD is aiming the G2 at people who love taking photos with their phones.
Design Differences Between Skyline and Skyline G2
One noticeable difference between the two Skyline phones is their bezels. The first Skyline leak showed a phone with a thick bottom bezel, also known as a chin, and relatively thin bezels on the sides and top. On the other hand, the G2 is rumoured to have thick bezels on both the top and bottom, giving it an older look.
Scarce Details on HMD Skyline G2 Specifications
Unlike the initial Skyline leak, which included some details about the phone’s specifications and price, there is much less information available about the G2. We don’t yet know the specifics about its hardware, software, or when it might be released. For now, we’ll have to wait for more leaks or an official announcement from HMD to learn more about the HMD Skyline G2.
Overall, it seems like HMD Global is trying to bring back some of the charm of the old Nokia Lumia phones with the Skyline series. If these leaks are accurate, the Skyline G2 could be an exciting option for mobile photography fans and anyone who loved the design of the Lumia phones.
