HMD Global is making waves with its upcoming smartphone releases, with leaks revealing details about three new devices: the HMD Nighthawk, HMD Tomcat, and HMD Project Fusion. These phones span the entry-level to mid-range segments, promising to revive the excitement around Nokia-branded smartphones. Here’s a detailed look at what we can expect from these new entrants.
HMD Nighthawk: A Potential Game Changer
HMD Nighthawk Specifications and Features
The HMD Nighthawk, which might not be its final name, evokes nostalgia with its deep red color reminiscent of classic Nokia designs. The phone will feature a stunning FHD+ AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Although the exact size of the display remains unknown, the specs indicate a device designed for a smooth visual experience.
Under the hood, the Nighthawk will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC, paired with 8GB of RAM and options for either 128GB or 256GB of storage. This setup promises robust performance for everyday tasks and moderate gaming.
For photography enthusiasts, the Nighthawk will sport a triple rear camera setup: a 108MP primary sensor with OIS, a 2MP secondary sensor, and a 32MP front camera for high-quality selfies and video calls. A 5,000mAh battery will ensure all-day battery life, and the device will run on Android 14 OS.
HMD Nighthawk Pricing
- 8GB RAM + 128GB Storage: EUR 250 (Approx. Rs 22,500)
- 8GB RAM + 256GB Storage: EUR 290 (Approx. Rs 26,200)
The Nighthawk is set to compete with the OnePlus Nord CE 4, Infinix GT 20 Pro, and Motorola Edge 50 Fusion in its price segment.
HMD Tomcat: The Lumia Revival
HMD Tomcat Specifications and Features
The HMD Tomcat brings a touch of nostalgia with its boxy design and blue hue, reminiscent of the Nokia Lumia. It features the same FHD+ AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate as the Nighthawk but packs a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC. With up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, the Tomcat is designed for more demanding users.
Camera-wise, the Tomcat includes a 108MP primary sensor, a 2MP secondary sensor, and an additional 8MP sensor, along with the same 32MP front camera as the Nighthawk. It comes with a slightly smaller 4,900mAh battery but compensates with 33W charging support, NFC, and an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.
HMD Tomcat Pricing
- 8GB RAM + 256GB Storage: EUR 400 (Approx. Rs 36,000)
- 12GB RAM + 256GB Storage: EUR 440 (Approx. Rs 40,000)
The Tomcat will face competition from the Nothing Phone 2, OnePlus 12R, and iQOO Neo 9 Pro, which offer more powerful specifications at similar price points.
HMD Fusion: The Prototype
HMD Fusion Specifications and Features
HMD Project Fusion is currently a prototype, and its specifications might change before the official launch. It will feature a 6.6-inch FHD+ IPS display and be powered by the Qualcomm QCM6490 SoC, based on the Snapdragon 778 chipset, coupled with 8GB of RAM. The device will include a 4,800mAh battery with 30W charging support.
For cameras, Project Fusion will house a dual setup at the rear with a 108MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor. Pricing details are not yet available, but the specifications suggest it could be positioned as an entry-level device.
